Beach Sporting Club exists to provide sporting activities for young people from all sections of the South East Blackburn Community, IE Whitebirk, Shadsworth, Audley, Queens Park and Higher Croft.
The Club operates out of Westbury Gardens United Reformed Church and is very grateful to the Elders of the Church for allowing the club to use their buildings
The club is a properly constituted organisation that aims to develop community spirit, opportunities and co-operation through sport. It was started in October 1998 in response to a request from local young people to play football. Judo has been provided since 1999.
Since the beginning football teams for various ages have been playing in local leagues and the club has a full set of kit and equipment for football activities
Judo has grown over the years and at times has included all ages including adult classes. The Judo section is very successful having produced young men that have gone on to compete at the highest level both nationally and internationally.
Beach Sporting Club is keen to respond to new demands for other sporting activities and is willing to try and provide them as needed. As in all sporting activities the key to success is having people that have the necessary skill and knowledge of a sport and the time and commitment to be the coach. Currently the club needs new football coaches to take on the football activities and the running of teams to suit various age groups.
Judo classes are run every Thursday at Westbury Gardens United Reformed Church. The Judo Coach/Manager is Joe Burns who is a fully qualified British Judo Association Coach.
